Setting in film is the where the movie takes place. Some characteristics of film are cinematography, editing, sound and performance. The most predominant characteristics to a producer are communication skills and creativity because your relationship with the crew needs to be top priority. The least predominant characteristics to producers are organizational skills because the other characteristics weigh them out. Setting is an important mise en scene element because it often sets the mood and tone for the movie, and it sets up our expectations for the film.
The main objective of this assignment is learning more about setting and why it is necessary in film. Our group will be creating a short film. We are analyzing another film and its setting. The movie is about a group of Americans coming to England and they are perceived as dumb. The family is very average, but the people see them as idiots. We see the characters in a yellow car compared to the people from London in darker colors possibly showing that they stand out easily.
